How are silicones used in Food Processing applications?
CHT manufacture a range of Food Grade Silicone products which are both FDA and European approved for use with food products including antifoams, emulsions, adhesives and moulding rubbers.
Silicone antifoams are used to control, reduce or eliminate foam produced in the preparation and washing of vegetables and during the fermentation process in the brewing industry. Food grade silicone emulsions can be used as a release agent when moulding or extruding plastic food containers and trays.
Our food grade adhesive sealants have a number of applications within the food processing industry:
- Gasketing and sealing on food processing machinery
- Sealing around chiller cabinet doors and within chilled vehicles
- Silcoset® 151 can withstand temperatures up to +300°C so is ideal for use as a sealant around oven doors and cooker tops
Building on wide range of moulding rubbers we have developed three food grade products which have been thoroughly tested by an independent laboratory and certified to meet FDA CFR 177.2600 (for use with fatty and aqueous foods depending upon the grade, EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011.
These products are widely used to create moulds for producing cake decorations, chocolates and other confectionery.
